Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polycarbonate or a polyester carbonate resin with a high glass transition temp., excellent heat resistance, low birefringence, excellent transparency, little warpage and deformation caused by water absorption by combining specified structural units. CONSTITUTION:This polycarbonate or polyester carbonate resin is constituted of structural units of formula I (wherein A is an alkyl group or a phenyl group), formula II (wherein n is 0, 1 or 2), formula III and formula IV (wherein B is a divalent satd. aliph. hydrocarbon group, satd. alicyclic hydrocarbon group or arom. hydrocarbon group). The proportions of these structural units are such that the sum of the molar fraction of the unit I and that of the unit II is substantially equal to the sum of the molar fraction of the unit III and that of the unit IV and the molar fraction of the unit I is 5-45mol% while that of the unit III is 20-50mol%. The number average MW of said resin is 10,000-100,000.
