To obtain a polycarbonate resin forming material capable of improving productivity in a continuous process while reducing the formation of attached materials during a forming process and holding substrate properties by making the total amount of materials having specific properties determined by thermogravimetric analysis below a specific ratio in the forming material.
This polycarbonate resin forming material for optical use contains a material whose 5%-weight reduction starting temperature determined by thermogravimetric analysis is 400°C or low in an amount of 1% or less (by weight) in a forming material. The forming material has preferably a viscosity average molecular weight of 10,000-22,000. Further, the forming material preferably has 15 mg or less of sticking materials on a stamper after forming 10,000 sheets of CD substrates at a cylinder temperature of 340°C and a mold temperature of 75°C, and preferably, 15 mg or less of sticking materials on a stamper after forming 10,000 sheets of DVD substrates at a cylinder temperature of 380°C and a mold temperature of 115°C. This can provide sufficiently reliable optical disk substrates.
