PURPOSE: To obtain a polycarbonate urethane having improved mechanical strength and compatibility with biological tissues, by reacting a diisocyanate compound containing carbonate bond in the molecule with a diol.
CONSTITUTION: One mole diisocyanate compound of formulaI{Ar1 and Ar2 are formulas II, III or IV[R1, R2, R3 and R4 are H, halogen or 1W10C hydrocarbon; B is 1W10C bifunctional hydrocarbon, O, S, SO, SO2 or CO; (a), (c) and (d) are integers 1W4; (b) is an integer 1W6; (e) is 1 or 0; two aromatic rings are joined without the presence of (B) when (e) is 0]}is reacted with preferably 0.5W2mol diol of formula V (R is bifunctional organic group) at preferably -30W+200°C for 5minW50hr to give the aimed polycarbonate urethane of formula VI (n is an integer showing the polymerization degree).
