Abstract:

To provide a polychlorinated biphenyl decomposition treatment method capable of performing decomposition treatment in a sodium dispersion while suppressing an increase in labor and time when 1-bromopropane is further contained in coil that contains PCB.

In the polychlorinated biphenyl decomposition treatment method, the oil and the sodium dispersion are mixed for decomposing PCB in the coil containing 1-bromopropane together with PCB. The the oil and sodium dispersion are mixed so that the temperature of their mixture becomes 70C or lower, 1-bromopropane and sodium are reacted in a state where the temperature of the mixture is 70C or lower, and at least a part of 1-bromopropane is debrominated. Then, the temperature of the mixture is risen so that the temperature of the mixture exceeds 70C to apply dechlorination of PCB.
