Abstract:

PURPOSE:To provide the title polymer useful as a polymeric photopolymerization initiator for block copolymer production, capable of giving ABA-type block copolymers with chloroprene rubber as intermediate block. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer of formula I (M1 is chloroprene monomer residue; R1 is 1-8C alkyl; R2 is H or R1; where, in case R1 and R2 are each cyclic, they are each 3-8 methylenes; n is 10-5000). It is suggested that the present polymer is obtained by photopolymerization at 0 to 30 deg.C of chloroprene in an oxygen-free or inert atmosphere using an initiator of formula II having two dithiocarbamate groups. Said initiator is e.g. p-xylylene N,N-dimethyl dithiocarbamate.
