To provide a novel material useful as an organic device material such as an organic EL element.SOLUTION: The present disclosure provides a polycyclic aromatic compound having aromatic rings coupled with a hetero element such as boron, nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen and sulfur, or a multimer of polycyclic aromatic compounds having a plurality of the structures: for example, compounds of formula (4-37).
