Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a polyene compound useful as a pharmaceutical composition or a cosmetic composition for the treatment of dermatic diseases participating in keratonizing diseases, rheumatism, cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis and ophthalmic diseases such as corneopathy.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is expressed by formula I (R1 is CH3 or the like; R2, R3 and R5 are each H or a lower alkyl; R4 is H; R6 to R8 are each H or a 1-20C alkyl), e.g. trans-7-[3-(1-methylcyclohexyl)-4- hydroxyphenyl]-3,7-dimethyl-2,4,6-heptatrienoic acid. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting an acetophenone derivative of formula II successively with vinylamagnesium bromide, sodium phenylsulfinate and ethyl γ- bromosenecionate to obtain a compound of formula III, removing the sulfone group and saponifying the ester functional group of the compound of formula III.
