Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester which can give a blow-molded container improved in gas barrier properties, pressure resistance, heat resistance, and transparency by selecting a polyester comprising constituent units derived from a dicarboxylic acid (derivative) and constituent units derived from a diol and having a specified glass transition temperature.
SOLUTION: Provided is a polyester of formula IV, comprising constituent units represented by formula I and derived from at least one dicarboxylic acid (derivative) selected among terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, 4,4'- biphenylcarboxylic acid, or the like, and constituent units represented by formula III and derived from 40-100 mol.% diol units of formula II (wherein O-R-O comprises 80-100 mol.% naphthalenediol residues and 0-20 mol.% at least one diol residue selected among 2-12C aliphatic diols, hydroquinone, or the like; and n1 and n2 are each 2-12) and 0-60 mol.% units derived from at least one diol selected among 2-12C aliphatic diols, 3-12C alicyclic diols, or the like, and having a limiting viscosity of at least 0.4 dl/g and a glass transition temperature of at least 75°C.
