Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a high impact-resistant polyester container produced by extrusion blow molding.
CONSTITUTION: The polyester container is molded from a resin obtained by melt-mixing 90-97.5wt.% poly(ethylene terephthalate) having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-1.5 with 2.5-10wt.% mixture of 1-9 pts.wt. propylene homopolymer having a melt flow rate of 0.15-10 and 1 pt.wt. copolymer containing 0.5-20wt.% units derived from at least one of glycidyl esters and glycidyl ethers. This container, which is a nonoriented one, has excellent impact resistance unlike conventional nonoriented polyester containers, keeping its original appearance, surface gloss, and moldability.
