Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain polyester crimped yarn for carpets capable of producing a carpet excellent in durability used flexibility and having soft touch and to provide a tufting carpet made of the polyester crimped yarns as face yarn and having excellent characteristics for living use and reuse easiness after use.
CONSTITUTION: This polyester crimped yarn for carpets consists of polyester multifilaments, a bulk of flat cross section fibers, having 4-15 monofilament denier and 500-5000 total denier and obtained by melt spinning a polyester comprising ethylene terephthalate unit accounting for ≥90% of all repeating units in a molecular chain and having ≥0.65 intrinsic viscosity. The degree of flatness of the flat cross section fiber is preferably 2-6. The crimp extensibility of the polyester multifilaments is preferably 3-20%. This polyester crimped yarn is used for carpets as its face yarn.
