Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a polyester filament having high moist heat resistance and useful for industrial materials, especially as canvas yarn for paper-making, belt cloth, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This filament composed of a polyethylene terephthalate or a polyester composed mainly of polyethylene terephthalate is produced by successively carrying out the following procedures. (a) A step to produce a prepolymer having a relative viscosity of 1.25-1.45 by a melt polymerization method, (b) a step to produce a polyester having a relative viscosity of ≥1.43 (and larger than the relative viscosity of the prepolymer) and a carboxyl terminal content of ≤20.0eq/t by the solid-phase polymerization of the prepolymer, (c) a step to produce a filament having a relative viscosity of ≥1.40 and a carboxyl terminal content of ≤5.0eq/t by adding 0.3-2.0wt.% of a monocarbodiimide compound and 0.03-0.5wt.% of N,N'-bis[3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionyl]hydrazine to the produced polyester and (d) a step to perform the drawing and the heat- treatment of the filament.
