Abstract:
To obtain a polyester film for magnetic recording media, suited to manufacturing high-capacity data storing tapes having low error rates.
A polyester film has an SRa of 2-5 nm and SRz of 10-40 nm on one surface A, Young's modulus of 5500 MPa or more in the length direction, and Young's modulus of 6500 MPa or more in the width direction, the number of surface detects of more than 120 nm high existing on the polyester film A surface is 10 per 100 cm2, the thermal shrinkage ratio of this film at 100°C for 30 min is 1.0% or less in the length direction and also in the width direction. A magnetic recording tape has a ferromagnetic metal film layer formed on the one surface A of the polyester film.
