PURPOSE: To obtain the title filament having excellent wear resistance and flexibility by coating the surface of the filament with a cured material, in specific thickness, prepared by curing a hydrolyzate of a specific silicon compound and an epoxy compound with a specific metallic compound.
CONSTITUTION: A reaction produced prepared by hydrolyzing a silicon compound shown by the formula ((n)=1-3; R1 is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl and nR1 may be the same or different; R2 is 1-6C alkyl or aryl; R3 is 1-10C alkylene, alkylene oxide or polyalkylene oxide; X is epoxy-containing functional group) with an acidic aqueous solution and an epoxy compound are incorporated with a metallic compound selected from Fe, Cr, Al, Co or Ti to prepare a coating solution, in which polyester monofilament is immersed. The polyester monofilament is pulled up, the substances are cured under heating and a uniform coating layer having 0.5-20μm thickness is formed to give monofilament having excellent wear resistance and flexibility. The monofilament is suitable as fishing net, brush, belt cloth, etc.
