Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin suitable for a resin composition for can coating, from which a coating film excellent in content resistance (acid resistance and resistance to sulfidation black discoloration), retort resistance and processability can be formed without using a raw material derived from bisphenol A, and a resin composition for can coating.SOLUTION: The polyester resin is a reaction product of a polycarboxylic acid (A) and a polyol (B). The polyester resin contains terephthalic acids by 15 to 50 mol% and isophthalic acids by 50 to 85 mol% in total 100 mol% of the polycarboxylic acid (A); and contains a linear diol (a) having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and having a primary hydroxyl group at both ends and no side chain by 5 to 30 mol%, a branched diol (b) having a hydroxyl group at both ends of the main chain and two alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms as side chains bonded to the same carbon atom on the main chain by 50 to 90 mol%, and a diol (c) having 2 to 3 carbon atoms by 3 to 25 mol% in total 100 mol% of the polyol (B).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
