Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin capable of forming a coating film which has good curability and tough curable film physical properties, is also excellent in workability, and is also excellent in retort resistance, resistance to contents and dent resistance, and to provide a resin composition for can coating containing the same.SOLUTION: A polyester resin (A) is formed of a polycarboxylic acid component and a polyol component and satisfies the following (i) to (iv) requirements: (i) containing 95-100 mol% of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid as a polycarboxylic acid component constituting the polyester resin (A); (ii) containing 50-90 mol% of 2-methyl-1,3-propane diol as a polyol component constituting the polyester resin (A) and 10-50 mol% of aliphatic diol having 6 or more carbon atoms; (iii) having reduced viscosity of 0.3-0.7 dl/g, a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 30-60°C and an acid value of 0-300 eq/t; and (iv) a polyester resin composition obtained by blending a resol type phenol resin with the polyester resin (A) producing a cured film with a film thickness of 10 μm of which a glass transition temperature is 45-100°C and tensile elastic modulus at 25°C is 1-2 GPa.SELECTED DRAWING: None
