Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the impact resistance without degrading the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties by compounding a thermoplastic polyester with a specific silane-modified copolymer. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of a radical initiator, 0.01-8wt.% unsatd. silane compd. (e.g. gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) is graft-polymerized onto a copolymer of ethylene with an ester of an alpha,beta-unsatd. carboxylic acid, pref. (meth)acrylate, said copolymer having a content of said ester of 2-22mol% and a melt flow rate (JIS-K-6760, 190 deg.C, 2160g) of 0.3-300dg/min, to give a silane- modified copolymer having a melt flow rate of 0.01-200dg/min. 1-40 pts.wt. said copolymer is compounded with 60-90 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester pref. obtd. from an arom. dicarboxylic acid and a 2-8C aliph. or cycloaliph. diol.
