Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a substrate for an optical disk having low birefringence and excellent transparency, moisture, resistance, mechanical strength, and dimensional and form stability.

CONSTITUTION: A substrate for an optical disk prepd. by molding a resin compsn. of a homogeneous blend of a substantially linear polyester polymer (first component) comprising an arom. dicarboxyic acid or a diester deriv. thereof, a dihydroxy compd. represented by the general formula (1) (wherein R1 is a 2-4C alkyl; and R2, R3, R4, and R5 are each independently H or a 1-4C alkyl group), and an aliph. 2-4C glycol with an arom. polycarbonate (second component).
