Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance a crystallization ratio by subjecting a mixture of terephthalic acid and a specific reagent and 2-4C alkenyl glycol to polycondensation.

CONSTITUTION: A mixture of terephthalic acid (deriv.) which may be substd. by halogen or a 1-4C alkyl group and 0.1-1.5 mol% of a reagent represented by formula (wherein Ar and Ar' are a 6-20C aromatic group and R is halogen such as Cl or the like, H or 1-4C alkyl) and 2-4C alkenyl glycol are subjected to polycondensation in the presence of protic acid or Lewis to obtain polyester with an internal viscosity (phenol/tetrachloroethane wt. ratio; 60/40, 30°C; concn.; 0.25 dl/g) of 0.5 dl/g or more, generally, 0.1-1.5 dl/g, a crystallization temp.; 170°C or higher, generally, 175-200°C, glass transition temp.; 75°C or higher.
