To make a polyester textured yarn having a characteristic cross-section, capable of making cloth having a cotton touch, a swelling feeling and the sense of smooth touch while maintaining its firmness and stiffness and useful for textile fabrics, knitted goods, etc., by making the mean sectional flatness of a multi-filament yarn have a preferred value or greater one.
The purpose of this invention is achieved by making the mean sectional flatness of filaments forming a cross-section of a multi-filament yarn in an arbitrary position become ≥1.5, by making the coefficient of variation in the average sectional ovality become ≥20% and by making the coefficient of variation in the diameter of the total of filaments ≥15%. It is preferable that ≤50% filaments of the multi-filament yarn has a hollow part having an average percentage of hollowness of 5-20% and at least part of filaments is different in the percentage of hollowness from one another. And it is preferable to produce textile fabrics and/or knitted goods using ≥25 wt.% polyester textured yarn having a characteristic cross-section and to cause ≤25 wt.% caustic reduction through alkali weight loss treatment.
