Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new PHA(polyhydroxyalkanoate) containing a 3-hydroxy- thioalkanoic acid unit having a side chain comprising a thienyl group having a high reactivity and its production method.
SOLUTION: The production method for the PHA involves a process of collecting it from a cell body of a microorganism which is cultured in a culture medium containing 5-(2-thienyl sulfanil) valeric acid represented by chemical formula [4] or 6-(2-thienyl sulfanil) hexanoic acid represented by chemical formula [5], and the PHA obtained is represented by chemical formula [1] (n is an integer of 1-9).
