Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a new polymaleimide compd. which has such a low m.p. as to be processed without using a solvent and exhibits a low dielectric constant and a low water absorption by reacting an aniline deriv. with a diisopropenylbenzene compd. and reacting the resulting low-melting polyamino oligomer with maleic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:Aniline or its deriv. is reacted with a diisopropenylbenzene compd., a di(alpha-hydroxyisopropyl)benzene compd., or a deriv. of these compds. to give a low-melting polyamino oligomer, which is reacted with maleic anhydride in the presence of a dehydrating agent (e.g. acetic anhydride), a catalyst (e.g. nickel acetate), and a base (e.g. triethylamine) to give the objective a polymaleimide compd. of formula 1 [wherein P and Q are each halogen, alkyl, aryl, OH, alkyloxy, aryloxy, SH, alkylthio, or arylthio provided that P may be NO2 or cycloalkyl; (j) is an integer of 0-4; (k) is an integer of 0-3; and X is a group of formula 2 (wherein Q and k are each as defined in formula 1; and (n) is a number of 0.5 to 20)].
