PURPOSE: To improve softness as a clad and adhesiveness to a core by using a polymer of which the molar ratio of the CH group and CF group (including CCl group) in the molecular of a fluorine copolymer is 30:70W1:99.
CONSTITUTION: The material of the core for a polymer clad fiber is preferably glass having high transmittability in a wavelength region from a UV region toward IR region, for which, for example, pure quartz, doped quartz and fluoride glass are usable. The fluorine copolymer having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core and of which the molar ratio of the CH group and CF group (including CCl group) in the molecule is 30:70W1:99 is used for the polymer forming the clad. The fiber having the good adhesiveness to the core and high softness is thus obtd.
