To provide a high polymer useful as a luminous material or a charge transport material and having excellent heat resistance, fluorescence intensity, etc.
The high polymer comprises a repeating unit represented by formula (1) (wherein, ring A and ring B denote each independently an aromatic hydrocarbon ring which may have a substituent; at least one of the ring A and ring B is a hydrocarbon ring in which a plurality of benzene rings are condensed; and two direct bonds are each present on the ring A and/or ring B; Rw and Rx denote each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an aryl group, an aryloxy group or the like; and Rw and Rx may each mutually be bound to form a ring).
