PURPOSE: To detect unselectively an anion containing in a sample liquid, by arranging a polymer film covering type anion unselective electrode and a polymer film covering type reference electrode by opposing them to each other with a flow passage of the sample liquid in-between.
CONSTITUTION: Sensitive films of a polymer film covering type anion unselective electrode 1 and a polymer film covering type reference electrode 2 are opposed to each other with a flow passage 3 of a sample liquid in-between and are connected to an electric potential display part such as a recording needle, etc. by a lead wire 4. These two electrodes 1, 2 are in contact with the sample liquid by each sensitive film and are held in a polyethylene block 6 by an epoxy resin 5. A chromatographic operation built in said composite electrode is as follows; An eluate is prepared at 4.5pH by adding sodium hydroxide to 0.0004M phthalic acid and then, said eluate is sent from a storage vessel 7 by a pump at 3ml/min flow speed. The sample is injected from a valve 9 and is sent to the composite electrode 12 through a separation column 10 and then, the electric potential difference is detected by a recorder.
