PURPOSE: To provide a highly stable recording material which can be described quickly and easily, by applying a decolorable film layer containing at least one kind of specific compound onto a polymer film.

CONSTITUTION: A decolorable film layer containing at least one kind of com pound shown by general formula (I) or (II) is applied onto a polymer film. In the formula, R1 represents an aliphatic group or an aromatic group having at least one sulfonic acid group or a carboxylic group, R2 represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, etc., L1 represents a methine group, (m) represents 0, 1, 2. R3, R4 represents a hydrogen atom, aliphatic or aromatic group, L2 represents a methine group. Provided at least one of R3, R4 represents an aliphat ic group or an aromatic group having at least one sulfonic acid group or a carboxylic acid group, and (n) represents 0, 1, 2. Solution wherein at least one of compounds shown by the formulae 1 or 2 is dissolved is applied onto a poly mer film in order to form a dyeing layer, in this case solvent to be employed, includes water, methanol, lower alcohol such as isopropanol, acetone, etc.
