This polymer material which comprises a composition comprising a fluorescent conjugated polymer (A) and a phosphorescent compound (B), or a polymer having the structure of (A) and the structure of (B) in an identical molecule is characterized by satisfying the following conditions (1), (2) and (3). (1) At least one of the luminescence peak wavelengths of the fluorescent conjugated polymer (A) is <500 nm; (2) the luminescence peak wavelengths of the phosphorescent compound (B) is ≥500 nm; and (3) the relation of the following expression is satisfied. ETA-ESA0≥(ETB-ESB0)-0.2 (unit ; eV) [wherein, ESA0 represents energy in the ground state of the polymer (A); ETA represents energy in the lowest excited triplet state of the polymer (A); ESB0 represents energy in the ground state of the phosphorescent compound (B); ETB represents energy in the lowest excited triplet state of the compound (B)].
