To provide a polymer material capable, by retaining a surfactant within the polymer material so as to preclude a gradual release thereof, of providing a polymer material having an advanced polymer material water wettability and surface lubricity and capable of sustaining these characteristics.
The polymer material of the present invention includes [I] a cross-linked and hydrogelled polymer containing (A) structural units derived from a polymerizable compound having acryloyloxy groups and having no silicon atoms and (B) structural units derived from a silicone compound having polymerizable groups and [II] a surfactant; the glass transition point, as homopolymer, of the polymerizable compound (A) is -70°C or above and 10°C or below. It is desirable for the content of the surfactant [II] to be 0.05 mass% or above and 1 mass% or below. It is desirable for the surfactant to be a nonionic surfactant having polyoxyethylene groups.
