Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer modifier which is excellent in storage stability, comprises a sulfuring ester (salt), and is esp. useful as a reactive emulsifier for emulsion polymn. by incorporating a specified amt. of a specific polymn. inhibitor into a sulfuric ester (salt).
SOLUTION: This polymer modifier comprises a sulfuric ester or its salt represented by the formula [wherein R is H or methyl; A is an alkylene; N is a mono- or divalent cation; (OA)n is a polyoxyalkylene group; n is 2-30; and is 1 or 2[, 50-3,000ppm phenolic polymn. inhibitor and/or amine polymn. inhibitor, and 0.01-20ppm copper ions. A pref. example of the phenolic polymn. inhibitor is hydroquinone monomethyl ether, and that of the amine polymn. inhibitor, phenothiazine. This modifier is obtd, by sulfating a polyalkylene glycol (meth) acrelayte in the presence of the inhibitor and copper ions.
