Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a new polymer polyol having a remarkably low viscosity and remarkably useful for production of a polyurethane by reacting specified ethylenic unsaturated compounds in the presence of a polyol in a specified solvent. CONSTITUTION:As ethylenic unsaturated compounds, an alpha,beta-unsaturated fatty acid ester of the formula (R is 1-5C alkyl; R' is H or methyl) and an alpha,beta-unsaturated nitrile are used in a weight ratio of (15:85) to (90:10) and the ethylenic unsaturated compounds are polymerized in the presence of a polyol in a 3-7C fatty alcohol compound. After polymerization, the fatty alcohol compound is removed to obtain the objective polymer polyol. As the alpha,beta-unsaturated fatty acid ester, e.g. methyl acrylate is exemplified and as the 3-7C fatty alcohol, e.g. isopropanol is exemplified.
