Abstract:

To provide a polymer-stabilizing liquid crystal composition capable of improving thermal and dynamic stability and also lowering its driving electric voltage.

This polymer-stabilizing liquid crystal composition is obtained by adding as a polymerizable acrylate compound, a specific bi-functional acrylate and a polymerizable liquid crystal compound and further optionally a monofunctional acrylate into a low molecular liquid crystal compound. The polymer-stabilized liquid crystal-displaying element having a stabilized orientation state of the low molecular liquid crystal is obtained by exposing the polymer stabilizing liquid crystal composition with ultraviolet light while maintaining a desired orientation state so as to form a polymer chain in the liquid crystal.
