Abstract:

To provide a recoverable polymer-supported bimetal cluster catalyst which allows alcohol to be oxidized while dispensing with a base such as potassium carbonate (K2CO3) indispensable when the conventional gold cluster catalyst is used and to provide a method for producing a carbonyl compound by oxidizing alcohol while using the polymer-supported bimetal cluster catalyst.

The polymer-supported bimetal cluster catalyst, in which gold and a transition metal are deposited on a cross-linked polystyrene derivative, exhibits high activity and selectivity in an oxygen oxidation reaction of alcohol without using the base at room temperature and under normal pressure.
