Abstract:

To provide a polymeric article having a surface and bulk, comprising an entangled blend of a first polymer component and a second polymer component that is a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and a methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate, compatible with the first polymer component.

The polymeric article, such as a membrane, with a surface having a desired chemical functional group is created by surface segregation of a branched component blended with a compatible, matrix base component, wherein the branched component has the desired chemical functional group. A branched hydrophilic copolymer is compatible, and well-entangled, with an acrylate polymer matrix.
