To provide a polymeric rosin, a polymeric rosin ester having advantageous color tone and having advantageous stability even when preserved under heating (advantageous heating stability) and capable of being hydrogenated (converted into a light color) without problems even when subjected to a treatment such as hydrogenation after a long-term preservation; a hydrogenated polymerization rosin ester having advantageous color tone and heating stability; and a viscous adhesive composition and an aqueous viscous adhesive composition containing the above esters.

These polymeric rosin ester and hydrogenated polymeric rosin ester are a polymeric rosin ester having a sulfur content except a sulfur content in an oxidant of 100 ppm or less obtained by reacting a polymeric rosin (A1) obtained by subjecting a polymeric rosin (A) obtained using a sulfuric acid-based catalyst to a desulfurization treatment, with alcohols (B); and a hydrogenated polymeric rosin ester obtained by hydrogenating the above polymeric rosin ester. In addition, also provided are an adhesive-imparting agent, an adhesive-imparted resin emulsion containing the above esters and a viscous adhesive composition containing the adhesive-imparting agent and adhesive-imparted resin emulsion.
