To provide a polymeric sheet having water absorption properties to water soluble solvents and suitably used in a fireld requiring ionic conduction such as an electrode separator in an electrolytic device.
This polymeric sheet includes a fabric formed of fibers and at least 80 wt.% of the fiber surface consists of cross-linked polypropylene. The surface has groups bonded to the surface by graft-polymerizing a vinyl monomer capable of directly or indirectly forming salts through reactions with acids or bases between the surface, thus, the reaction product functions as an ion-exchange material. The ion-exchange capacity of the sheet is >0.05 meq g-1 and the surface is provided by the initiation of graft-polymerization reaction by UV rays in a state in which the fabric is impregnated with a vinyl monomer-containing solution.
