Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly stereoregular polymer in high yields by polymerizing an α-olefin in the presence of a mixture prepared by contacting a polymerization catalyst component of a specified composition with a 4 C or higher olefin monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A polymerization catalyst component comprising a solid titanium catalyst component consisting essentially of magnesium, titanium, halogen and an alkoxyester compound of the formula (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each a hydrocarbon group; Z is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group the hydrogen atoms of which may be replaced with aromatic hydrocarbon groups; i, j and k are each 0-3; and the sum of i, j and k is 1 or greater) (e.g. methyl methoxyacetate), an organoaluminum compound (e.g. triethylaluminum) and an electron-donating compound (e.g. ethyl benzoate) with a 4 C or higher olefin monomer (e.g. 1- butene), and an o-olefin (e.g. ethylene) is polymerized in the presence of the obtained polymerization catalyst component.
