Abstract:
To obtain the subject initiator capable of producing acrylic resins low in viscosities and excellent in transparency by using a specific organic peroxide.
An organic peroxide of the formula (R1 is a 2-5C alkyl; R2 is H, a 1-10C alkyl), e.g. t-amyl-peracetate. The peroxide is obtained e.g. by subjecting hydroperoxide and an acid chloride to a dehydrochlorination reaction in the presence of a basic substance. When an acrylic resin is produced, the initiator is used in an amount of 0.01-30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of an acrylic acid ester monomer (e.g. n-butyl acrylate).
