Abstract:

To provide a polymer having high molecular weight, softening temperature and ion exchange capacity, to provide a method for producing the polymer with high productivity, to provide an electrolyte membrane having high mechanical strength even at high temperature and high proton conductivity and to provide a membrane electrode assembly having excellent output characteristics and suitable for high temperature operation.

A polymer obtained by a method including a step of polymerizing at least one of a compound (m1) and a compound (m2) and tetrafluoroethylene by using di-tertiary butyl peroxide at 100 to 200°C is used for the electrolyte membrane 15 and the like, wherein Q1, Q21and Q22each represents a perfluoro alkylene group and the like and Y2represents a fluorine atom and the like.
