PURPOSE: To obtain a polypropylene resin composition excellent in transparency, flexibility, and moldability by compounding syndiotactic polypropylene with an ethylene/octene copolymer.

CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises 95-30 pts.wt. syndiotactic polypropylene having a content of syndiotactic pentads as determined by 13C-NMR spectrometry of 0.5 or higher and 5-70 pts.wt. ethylene/octene copolymer. Although a film of syndiotactic polypropylene is superior in transparency, flexibility, etc., to a film of isotactic polypropylene it has a lower crystallization rate and a lower crystallinity. Therefore, the filmy extrudate of syndiotactic polypropylene in T-die extrusion is apt to wind around the cooling roll, while the film produced through calendering has insufficient flexibility. Due to the incorporating the copolymer, the objective composition is excellent in transparency, flexibility, and moldability.
