Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a new polysaccharide, NPS, having specific physicochemical properties and useful physiological activity. CONSTITUTION:The title NPS has specific physicochemical properties and can be obtained as follows. An NPS-producing strain belonging to the genus Lactobacillus is incubated in a culture medium to allow a polysaccharide, NPS, to generate and accumulate in the culture. The NPS is then taken out. An example of the strain is Lactobacillus helveticus MIKI-010 separated from fermented naline milk. This NPS is utilizable as an active ingredient for a marrow cell growth accelerator or anti-inflammatory agent.
