PURPOSE: To obtain a compd. which is useful as a heat-and fire-resistant polymer and gives a cured lightweight article excellent in heat resistance by selecting a specific poly(silyleneethynylenephenyleneethynylene) compd.
CONSTITUTION: A poly(silyleneethynylenephenyleneethynylene) compd. is selected which has repeating units of the formula (wherein the phenylene group is o-, m-, or p-structured; R is halogen, 1-20C alkyl, 1-20C alkoxy, 1-20C phenoxy, 2-20C alkenyl. 2-20C alkynyl, 6-20C arom., 2-20C disubstd. amino, 1-10Si silanyl, etc.; m is 0-4; when the phenylene group is o-or p-structured, then R' is H, 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 2-2OC alkynyl, or 6-20C arom. ; when the phenylene group is m-structured and m is 0, then R' is II, 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 2-20C alkynyl, or 7-20C arom.; and when the phenylene group is m-structured and m is 1-4, then R' is H, 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 2-20C alkynyl, 6-20C arom., etc.).
