Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polytetrafluoroethylene paper-like material exhibiting the characteristic nature of polytetrafluoroethylene even in the form of paper, causing little dimensional change by heat-treatment and having low mechanical elongation.
SOLUTION: This paper-like material is composed of blended polytetrafluoroethylene fibers and different kind of pulp fibers and contains the polytetrafluoroethylene fibers in a form bonded with each other by heat- welding. It can be produced by mixing polytetrafluoroethylene particles with a matrix, subjecting the mixture to emulsion spinning, blending the produced fibers with different kind of pulp fibers and welding the fibers with each other by the heat-treatment at a temperature above the melting point of polytetrafluoroethylene and causing the carbonization of the matrix.
