To obtain a new thermoplastic resin for optical uses which has excellent transparency and optical properties (high refractive index, high Abbe's number, low double refractive index, or the like) and improved mechanical properties, thermal properties and injection molding processability.
The subject poly(thio)ester copolymer comprises repeating structural units represented by formula (1-A) and formula (2-A) ((m) is an integer of 1-4; R1 and R2 are each independently an alkyl group; n1 and n2 are each independently an integer of 0-4). An optical part is obtained by molding the poly(thio)ester copolymer. Having excellent transparency and optical properties (high refractive index, high Abbe's number, low double refractive index, etc.) and improved mechanical properties, thermal properties and molding processability, the poly(thio)ester copolymer is extremely useful as an injection molding material for various kinds of optical parts.
