PURPOSE: The titled dispersion which has excellent dispersion stability and can give a film of excellent water resistance, obtained by dispersing a modified polyurethane formed by introducing graft polymer chains comprising an ethylenically unsaturated monomer into a polyurethane in an organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A polyurethane having unsaturated double bonds in the main chain is obtained by reacting 1mol of an OH-terminated polyol of a MW of 300W4,000 with an organic diisocyanate and 0.001W0.5mol of a chain extender which is an unsaturated compound having an active hydrogen atom on each end, which is obtained by condensing 1mol of an unsaturated dibasic acid with 1.2W2.0mol of a bifunctional compound by dehydration and has an average MW of about 140W1,000. 5W70wt% modified polyurethane obtained by graft- polymerizing 0.5W1,000pts.wt. ethylenically unsaturated monomer with 100pts.wt. above produced polyurethane is dispersed in a single or mixed organic solvent which is a poor solvent for the main chain of the modified polyurethane but in which the graft polymer chain is solvated.
