Title:
POLYVINYLIDENE FLUORIDE MEMBRANE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3178772
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare a filter membrane capable of removing small particles from a liquid effectively, having the smallest absorptivity and capable of testing its perfection before actual usage, and provide a process for manufacturing the same.
CONSTITUTION: This polyvinylidene fluoride membrane is a homogeneous, skinless and porous membrane having a KUF of at least about 15 psi (103 kPa) when tested by using liquid pairs having an interfacial tension of about 4 dyne/cm (4 mN/m). The membrane is manufactured by preparing a casting solution comprising polyvinylidene fluoride and its solvent, heating the casting solution to a uniform temperature of about 57 to 60°C, forming a film by spreading the casting solution onto a support, quenching the film in a quench bath so as to form a porous membrane, and washing and drying the membrane.
