Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a porous article with high porosity, free of coarse defect, independent of the type of starting raw materials, compatibilizing both technologies of controlling pore diameters of not less than 10 μm and increasing porosity by a molding method of using powder or granule as raw materials without necessitating complicated operations.

This method for producing porous articles comprises the steps of: gelling slurry in which a gelatinizable water-soluble polymer and a water-insoluble powder are dispersed; freezing the gelled slurry to generate ice crystals to be utilized as the pore source; then removing ice from the frozen article to give a dry article; and heat treating the dry article, where an electrolyte or a particle excellent in thermal conduction is added to the slurry as an ice-crystal coarsening controller to reduce defects of 300 μm or larger derived from coarsening of ice crystals.
