PURPOSE: To manufacture pellets of superior gas suction and exhaust properties by forming phenol resin spherical particles into the specified shape and burning.
CONSTITUTION: First, novolak resin and aldehyde group are allowed to react in an acidic medium and thermoplastic phenol resin particles of average 0.02mm grain diameter or under are formed. Then, said phenol resin spherical particles are so bonded together as to be in contact on their surfaces to manufacture a solid formed material, columnar, rectangular or the like having 1-100mm2 bottom area and 2-10mm height on a spherical formed material having 2-10mm diameter. Said rectangular formed material is burnt at 400-1200°C. At that time, the same can be burnt in vacuum, for instance, under the atmosphere of 101-102Torr. The void content of pellets is approximately 30-50%. Thus, the pellets of superior gas suction and exhaust properties are manufactured.
