Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a porous metal panel having heat resistance and corrosion resistance and strong against a water-soluble agent by applying a soln. consisting of alkyl silicate, water hydrolyzing the same, an aluminum chelate being a hydrolyzing reaction catalyst, methyl acid phosphate being a reaction suppressing agent and alcohol being a solvent for alkyl silicate and water to the surface of a porous metal panel.
CONSTITUTION: A solution consists of alkyl silicate being a main agent, water hydrolyzing alkyl silicate, an aluminum chelate being a reaction catalyst, methyl acid phosphate being a reaction suppressing agent and alcohol being a solvent for alkyl silicate and water. When aluminum fibers are coated with this soln., the excessive aluminum chelate hydrolyzes alkyl silicate in the presence of moisture in air. By this hydrolysis, alkyl silicate is cured and the formed silica film has heat resistance and fire retardancy and becomes a sealant of aluminum fibers not only to prevent the fluffing of the fibers but also to impart water breaking properties.
