Abstract:
To provide an easily producible porous particle of polyvinyl alcohol resin having sufficiently large pore size.
This porous particle is composed mainly of a polyvinyl alcohol resin and cellulose or a cellulose derivative wherein the weight ratio of the polyvinyl alcohol resin (in terms of polyvinyl alcohol) to the cellulose or the cellulose derivative (in terms of cellulose) is 1:(0.02-0.5). The particle can be produced by mixing the vinyl alcohol with viscose to attain a (polyvinyl alcohol)/(cellulose component of viscose) weight-ratio of 1:(0.02-0.5) to prepare a dope and dropping the dope in a coagulation liquid containing an acid and a crosslinking agent to effect the coagulation, regeneration and crosslinking of the dope.
