Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound excellent in biocompatibility and capable of transporting a high concentration oxygen as an oxygen carrier containing a porphyrin-metal complex as an oxygen-adsorbing and desorbing site, and further to provide an oxygen transfusion containing the compound as an active ingredient.
SOLUTION: This porphyrin-metal complex-albumin polymer clathrate compound is obtained by including a substituted porphyrin complex having a transition metal ion belonging to the fourth or fifth row in the periodic table as a coordinated center metal ion in an albumin polymer having a cysteine group cross-linked with a cross-linking agent. The oxygen transfusion contains the porphyrin-metal complex-albumin polymer clathrate compound as an active ingredient.
