PURPOSE: To easily cut a material to be cut along a curve, or into a slit shape, and a thin material, which cannot be cut by a lateral band saw, and which requires no fixing with a vice by placing the material to be cut on a slide table to be moved with the slide table by providing a portable band saw which is usable as a vertical band saw.

CONSTITUTION: An endless saw blade 8 of which base end part 5a is rotatably supported on a tip part 1a of a bed 1 having vices 3, 4 for fixing a table 2 for a work W and the work W through a support shaft 6, and which is driven by a motor 7 is disposed to be exposed in a specified range 8a.
